Speaker Bios:
Mike Baer
Mike has over 25 years experience in organizational and leadership development and is the author of 'Business as Mission – The Power of Business in the Kingdom of God'. He is the founder of several businesses including the strategic consulting and business advisory firm that he currently leads, a construction company and a bed and breakfast inn. Mike also serves as Executive Director of an international mission organization specializing in microenterprise and in this role he has launched a small business incubation process which is in use in over seventeen countries. As well as his rich experience of the business as mission movement, Mike brings an understanding of the biblical basis for business that rejects the compartmentalising of ‘sacred / secular’ thinking and presents an exciting perspective on the role of business in the Kingdom of God.
Peter Shaukat
Peter is the founder and CEO of a global investment fund with a portfolio of business as mission initiatives in the Arab world and Asia to which they provide mezzanine lending, mentoring and consultancy. His role sees him traveling extensively and interacting with some of the most cutting edge examples of business as mission across the world. With a background in Chemical Engineering, he also holds an MBA from the Rothman School of Management, University of Toronto. Peter brings extensive practical experience of mission and business as well as exceptional teaching on servant leadership and capitalizing business as mission initiatives.
David Skews
For 35 years, David has owned and led businesses in the UK and more recently in SE Asia. He is equally comfortable in corporate, business and mission settings and regularly speaks to gatherings of business people, organizational leaders and government officials, as well as contributing to professional magazines and conferences. David brings a rare humility and rich experience as he shares valuable insights into the reality of being a follower of Christ in business and the nations.
The teaching sessions at this business as mission conference will be interactive with time for questions, small group discussion and case study evaluation.
Seminar Leader:
Mark Plummer
Mark has led the Business as Mission Resource Team for the last 5 years, playing a central role in developing a suite of training and field exposure which is a market leader in business as mission training. He directs other business as mission services and initiatives, including consultancy services and the business as mission resource website. Mark is a natural entrepreneur and has 18 years experience in training. He is accustomed to fusing the themes of mission and business, having been involved in discipleship, evangelism and leadership as well as operating and working in businesses. Mark’s passion to help people learn and his experience in leading training courses play a key part in ensuring a high quality seminar and a great learning environment.
